types of sedation
We offer different types of sedation and anesthesia and will work with you to decide the best option to use during your procedure:
Local anesthesia: the patient remains conscious throughout the procedure. A local anesthetic is administered in the area where the surgery is to be performed, so that it is numb. It is typically used for simple procedures such as a single tooth extraction or minor soft tissue procedures. It is also used in conjunction with the other methods of anesthesia in all oral surgery procedures.
Nitrous Oxide (commonly called “laughing gas”): this is administered through a nasal breathing device and the patient is awake but in a relaxed state. It has a sedative and pain-controlling effect and is used in simple procedures to help people who are anxious.
I.V. Sedation
If I.V. sedation is given, detailed pre-operative and post-operative instructions will be provided.
